Sanders - Dickson Wedding

Elizabeth Page Dickson and Travis “Teddy” Fleming Sanders were married at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2014, at the Foundry Park Inn in Athens.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lindsey Dickson Sr. of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mary Ann Dickson of Kingsport, Tenn., the late Charles Hicks Dickson Sr. and the late Dr. and Mrs. Troy Cleere Mills Jr.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Casey Matt Sanders of Suwanee. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Flynn Pullen of Troy, Ala., Lucille Sanders of Jacksonville, Fla., and the late Pete Sanders.

The father of the groom performed the double ring ceremony. A program of wedding music was provided by pianist Amy Winkles and guitarist Jacob Burton. Selections included “Oceans,” “Come Thou Fount,” “I Won’t give Up,” and “Emmanuel, God with Us.”

Lauren Taylor Shank of Lafayette, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Elizabeth Ware of Lewisville, Texas, Jaclyn Mills Schofield, cousin of the bride, of Alabaster, Ala., Emma Borgognoni of Lawrenceville, Sarah Elizabeth Cornette, Mary Lee Jackson both of Athens, Katie Dix of Snellville and Laura Kathleen Tait, of Florence, S.C.

Each bridesmaid wore a short dress of their choosing in shades of blush or cream. They carried hand-tied bouquets of a large round cluster of white dainty baby’s breath, framed in loops from cloth ribbon in a soft teal green.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a formal ivory gown with a vintage feel. The dress featured a sweetheart neckline; corded lace over romance satin with tiers accented with scalloped, eye-lash lace and had a corset back closure. She wore a fingertip illusion wedding veil that was edged with lace and crystals. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of fluffy peach stock surrounded by ivory garden roses, peach hypericum berries, green succulents, variegated pittosporum and white scabiosis blooms.

Bryan Bardash of Byron was the best man. Groomsmen were T.J. Sanders of Columbus, Troy Sanders of Atlanta, both brothers of the groom, David Dickson of Atlanta, brother of the bride, Morgan Fish of Atlanta, Patrick Coussens of Perry and Ben Landis of Snellville.

The mother of the bride wore a sterling formal satin face chiffon gown that featured a unique scoop neckline, a layered bodice and a pleated skirt. The mother of the groom wore a gold tiered floor length gown with a V-neckline bodice and a short waist jacket. The mothers of the bridal couple were presented with silver tussy mussies filled with white stock, creamy white spray roses with a hint of baby’s breath and rhinestone bling.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Melting Point in Athens. The guests were treated to a buffet dinner and other refreshments including the bride’s two tier round cake with butter cream icing. The confection featured layers of almond cake with raspberry filling. The top layer was adorned with a gold sign that read “O Happy Day.” The groom’s cake was a chocolate chip cookie cake that was adorned with a bride and groom teddy bears.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Mama’s Boy in Athens.

Other pre-nuptial parties included a surprise engagement celebration at the home of the groom’s parents, in Suwanee; a kitchen shower hosted by Gwyn Puckett at the Puckett home in Dacula; a “His & Hers” shower hosted by Mike and Carol Williams at the Sugarloaf Country Club in Duluth; a miscellaneous bridal shower hosted by Kara Moore and Carol Payne at the Moore’s home in Rome; a Deck-the-Halls Christmas shower hosted by Katie Dix at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain; a bridesmaids luncheon hosted by Caroline Fincher, Toni Rhinehart, Karen Tucker, and Eileen Walker at the Hilltop Grill in Athens and a bachelorette weekend getaway hosted by Lauren Shank, sister of the bride, at the lake house of David and Kara Moore on Lake Blackshear in Cordele.
